Project Overview
Executive Summary
The Smart Aquatic Ecosystem is an AI assisted smart aquarium that automates much of the work required to care for aquatic life, creating a healthier environment for the fish and reducing the responsibilities placed on the fish tank’s owner.
Problem and Importance
Traditional aquarium maintenance requires frequent manual monitoring of water quality and fish health, which can lead to inconsistent care and increased stress for aquatic life. Our Smart Aquatic Ecosystem aims to utilize AI and automation to eliminate the need for constant manual adjustments and create a more stable environment for fish and other aquatic life. Together, this system addresses all the user's needs by eliminating the need for constant manual care. It monitors water quality and fish health, performs automatic feedings and water replacement, and alerts the user to any urgent changes in the environment.
Features
- AI Population Tracking
- User Friendly Frontend
- Custom Lid
- Real Time Water Quality Data
Target Users
User Group 1: Casual Aquarium Owners
- Description: Individuals or families who have a fish tank at home. They typically have limited knowledge of aquarium care and little time for regular maintenance.
- Needs Statement: They need an easy and low-effort way to keep their fish alive and healthy without having to constantly monitor water quality, feeding, and cleaning.
- Benefits: The AI tank provides automated feeding, monitors water quality, and tracks fish health, making aquarium ownership more accessible and less stressful.
User Group 2: Commercial Users
- Description: Commercial users such as pet stores that manage multiple tanks with different fish species. Staff may not always be experts, making consistent care difficult.
- Needs Statement: They require a scalable solution that ensures consistent water quality, reduces labor costs, and prolongs fish survival.
- Benefits: AI automation reduces manual monitoring and feeding while maintaining standardized care across all tanks, saving costs and improving reliability.
User Group 3: Enthusiasts and Hobbyists
- Description: Experienced aquarium owners who often have expensive fish and advanced tank setups.
- Needs Statement: They need accurate, detailed data and precise environmental controls to optimize tank conditions, monitor fish health, and experiment with advanced setups.
- Benefits: The AI system provides real-time feedback on temperature, pH, and water quality, allowing enthusiasts to achieve higher success rates with their fish.
User Group 4: Fish
- Description: A variety of fish species living inside the tank.
- Needs Statement: They require precise temperature, water quality, oxygenation, and regular feeding to survive and remain comfortable.
- Benefits: Onboard hardware automatically tracks all water requirements and automates feeding, ensuring fish safety and alerting owners to any abnormalities.
